George's new book has some very striking and useful insights about (among other things) the transition that it in progress from the industrial age to the internet age of philanthropy.

Unfortunately, I am in Switzerland, so I can't come. About the internet age of philanthropy, it would be great if the issue of free (as in freedom) versus "for free" web 2.0 could be raised.

For instance, what of Google's "We are not evil" when
a) they abandon their defense of Net neutrality (see V. Kumar and Ch. Rhoads: Google Wants Its Own Fast Track on the Web. WSJ. Dec. 15, 2008)
b) they abruptly interrupt Lively, well aware of how much work people had invested in it (see Lively Team: Lively no more. Google Official Blog. Nov. 19, 2008)?
